Ivory plates and burgundy robes frame the Domina's machinery. Warm brass ornaments, cooler steel hoses and turquoise lenses separate the ceremonial details from the working mechanisms.

Clean and prime the miniature
Remove support marks and loose dust without pulling on the thin hoses. Clean the model as appropriate for its material and let it dry fully; resin must already be washed and cured. Apply thin coats of Grey Surface Primer, turning the figure to reach the cloak interior and the tail.
Expected result
The primer is continuous without clogging the cable texture or teeth.
Points to watch
Do not paint uncured resin or use the hoses as handles.

1. Prepare the model

Remove support marks and loose dust without pulling on the thin hoses. Clean the model as appropriate for its material and let it dry fully; resin must already be washed and cured. Apply thin coats of Grey Surface Primer, turning the figure to reach the cloak interior and the tail.
Expected result
The primer is continuous without clogging the cable texture or teeth.
Points to watch
Do not paint uncured resin or use the hoses as handles.

2. Apply the base colours

Basecoat the ivory

Zandri Dustcitadel · 21-16
Ushabti Bonecitadel · 22-32
Mix equal amounts of Zandri Dust and Ushabti Bone. Apply thin coats to the armour and bone skulls, leaving the mechanical eye housings and raised trim for their own colours.
Expected result
The pale surfaces are opaque and the fine relief is clear.
Points to watch
Keep the mask hoses and metal fittings out of the ivory areas.
Basecoat the burgundy cloth
Where to paint: Burgundy hood and cloak
Khorne Redcitadel · 21-04
Paint the hood and cloak with Khorne Red. Reach behind the legs and inside the lower folds; use several thin coats rather than a single thick one.
Expected result
No grey patches remain inside the cloak.
Points to watch
Keep the red away from the brass edging and the tail.
Basecoat the warm metal
Where to paint: Brass trim and ornaments
Retributor Armourcitadel · 21-35
Paint the trim and ornaments with Retributor Armour. Follow each raised border with the brush tip; on the halo, keep the silver cylinders separate from their warm-metal caps.
Expected result
Warm metal is confined to the sculpted fittings and trim.
Points to watch
Do not paint the braided hoses or whole weapons gold.
Basecoat the steel
Where to paint: Steel mechanisms and black joints
Leadbelchercitadel · 21-28
Apply Leadbelcher to the hoses, chains, blade and steel machinery. Turn the figure to cover the backs of the suspended skulls and the underside of the segmented tail.
Expected result
The steel is continuous but the gaps between parts remain open.
Points to watch
Leave brass links and ivory skull surfaces in their own colours.
Separate the black components
Where to paint: Steel mechanisms and black joints
Abaddon Blackcitadel · 21-25
Use Abaddon Black on flexible joints and dark weapon housings. Paint the narrow gaps between tail segments with the tip, leaving their steel faces and brass fittings exposed.
Expected result
The mechanical parts are separated by clean dark gaps.
Points to watch
Do not cover broad ivory plates with black.

3. Build the shadows

Shade the ivory recesses

Agrax Earthshadecitadel · 24-15
Guide a small amount of Agrax Earthshade into plate seams, skull teeth and the recesses beside raised ornaments. Remove any pool from the smooth armour with a clean damp brush.
Expected result
Fine warm shadows define the relief without dirtying the plates.
Points to watch
Avoid an all-over brown wash.
Deepen the burgundy folds

Khorne Redcitadel · 21-04
Abaddon Blackcitadel · 21-25
Darken Khorne Red with a little Abaddon Black. Apply thin glazes beneath the hood rim, behind the arms and in the deepest cloak folds, softening each boundary while it is still workable.
Expected result
The deepest folds are dark burgundy rather than flat black.
Points to watch
Do not scrub a half-dried glaze.
Shade the brass fittings

Agrax Earthshadecitadel · 24-15
Apply Agrax Earthshade around the halo teeth, rivets and the lower edges of brass fittings. Leave the raised faces mostly clean so their metallic base remains bright.
Expected result
The warm metal has depth without a muddy film.
Points to watch
Keep brown shade off the turquoise lens recesses.
Shade the steel machinery
Where to paint: Steel mechanisms and black joints
Nuln Oilcitadel · 24-14
Use Nuln Oil between hose strands, chain links and tail plates. On the blade, shade the recessed plane lightly and leave its exposed bevel clear. Let the wash dry fully before highlighting.
Expected result
Metal edges remain distinct around the dark recesses.
Points to watch
Do not let a large pool dry on a smooth blade plane.

4. Build the highlights

Highlight the ivory plates

Screaming Skullcitadel · 22-33
Layer Ushabti Bone over the raised areas without covering the shaded seams. Gradually add Screaming Skull on the chest, upper shoulder and skull foreheads. Keep the brightest marks smaller than the midtone areas.
Expected result
Rounded plates have smooth light-to-shadow transitions.
Points to watch
Do not make the entire lower body as bright as the chest.
Light the burgundy folds

Mephiston Redcitadel · 21-03
Add a little Mephiston Red to Khorne Red and layer it onto the fold crests. Use progressively smaller highlights along the hood rim and the upper-facing cloak folds, keeping the broad lower panels subdued.
Expected result
The cloak remains burgundy, with the strongest light near the head.
Points to watch
Avoid orange outlines or invented woven texture.
Pick out the warm metal edges
Where to paint: Brass trim and ornaments

Stormhost Silvercitadel · 22-75
Highlight the upper edges of the trim and halo with Liberator Gold. Add a trace of Stormhost Silver to it for a few tiny accents on the upper spikes and rivets nearest the head.
Expected result
The brass remains warm beneath the brightest accents.
Points to watch
Do not cover the whole brass area with silver.
Highlight the steel edges

Use Ironbreaker on the raised hose strands, chain links and the upper faces of tail segments. Add a few fine Stormhost Silver marks along blade bevels and the most exposed mechanical corners.
Expected result
The steel looks cooler than the neighbouring brass.
Points to watch
Do not drybrush silver across the cloak or ivory armour.
Reveal the black housings

Dawnstonecitadel · 22-49
Trace the lit edges of black housings with Eshin Grey. Use Dawnstone only on a few corners, leaving the centres and deep joints black.
Expected result
Black and steel remain easy to tell apart.
Points to watch
Avoid a grey outline around every black detail.

5. Paint the details

Fill the turquoise lenses
Where to paint: Turquoise lenses
Sotek Greencitadel · 22-19
Fill each lens with Sotek Green using a fine point. Keep the metal rings clean and leave the uppermost edge slightly darker.
Expected result
Every lens has a clean circular boundary.
Points to watch
Do not carry turquoise onto nearby skull bone.
Add the lens reflections

Temple Guard Bluecitadel · 22-20
Place a small Temple Guard Blue crescent along the lower half of each lens. Add one tiny Screaming Skull dot near the upper edge. Keep the effect inside the glass rather than lighting the whole skull.
Expected result
Small bright lenses draw attention without overpowering the face.
Points to watch
Do not enlarge the white dot into a white lens.

6. Add effects and weathering

Add a little wear to the ivory

With a fine brush, add a few short Zandri Dust marks at exposed knee and shoulder edges. Put a smaller Screaming Skull accent just below one or two marks. Leave most of each plate smooth.
Expected result
The wear is visible only on close inspection.
Points to watch
Do not cover every plate with random speckles.

7. Finish the model

Check coverage and material boundaries

Let the finish dry, then inspect it from every side under soft light. Correct stray marks with the appropriate local colour. Check the hands, rear fittings, cloak interior and tail underside for missed primer, and keep the brightest accents near the head.
Expected result
Every visible component is finished and the face remains the focal point.
Points to watch
Do not hide missed details under another overall wash.
