Military olive armour is broken by pale swollen growths and violet mouths and suckers. Local shadows and separate steel highlights keep the corrupted vehicle's organic tissue distinct from its running gear.
Epic Rhino — Breath of Nurgle→Letters identify paints. The same letter can appear in several places.
Stage 1 of 4
Remove loose debris and mould lines around the tracks and tentacles. Wash in warm soapy water, rinse and dry fully. Apply Black Surface Primer in thin passes, reaching beneath the growths and along the tracks.
The hull and organic recesses have an even primer coat.
Do not fill the suckers or front mouth.
Where to paint: Whole model

Apply two thin coats of Death Guard Green to the hull, track guards and armoured roof. Carefully follow the boundary where the pale growths break through the plates.
The surviving armour is uniformly olive.
Do not paint the swollen growths green.

Coat the swollen sacs, ribbed roof growth and tentacles with Wraithbone. Leave the front mouth and sucker interiors for the purple step.
The large growths have an opaque ivory base.
Keep ivory off the mechanical exhaust pipes.
Where to paint: Maw and sucker interiors
Paint the front maw, the roof opening and sucker interiors Heavy Violet. Keep the surrounding tentacle surfaces ivory.
Purple is limited to the sculpted openings.
Do not make whole tentacles purple.
Where to paint: Tracks, exhausts and grilles
Apply Leadbelcher to the tracks, exhaust pipes, grilles and exposed metal fittings. Work around the pale growths at the hull sides.
Mechanical parts have an even steel base.
Leave the organic roof chimney ivory.
Where to paint: Olive hull
Apply Nuln Oil along panel joins and where the growths meet the armour. Remove any wash that pools on a flat plate.
Dark joins keep the hull shape distinct.
Avoid a dirty film across all the olive armour.
Where to paint: Pale growths and tentacles
Place Reikland Fleshshade between the roof ridges, beneath the sacs and around the tentacle roots. Let the wash dry without touching it again.
Warm shadows separate the swollen folds.
Do not stain every growth uniformly brown.
Where to paint: Maw and sucker interiors
Put Violeta Wash into the deepest parts of the front mouth and the centres of the suckers.
The openings have dark centres and visible rims.
Keep the violet wash away from the ivory ridges.
Where to paint: Tracks, exhausts and grilles
Shade the steel with Nuln Oil, guiding it into the track joints and grille slots. Keep the exhaust openings particularly dark.
Dark steel grounds the lighter infected hull.
Do not leave glossy pools between track links.
Where to paint: Olive hull
Mix a little Ogryn Camo into Death Guard Green and highlight the roof planes and upper half of the sloping front armour. Make one broad, soft transition on each panel.
Upper armour is lighter without painted scratches.
Do not add dense chips at Epic scale.
Where to paint: Pale growths and tentacles
Apply Screaming Skull to the upper roof ridges, the tops of the side sacs and the outer curve of the main tentacle. Keep the transitions broad and smooth.
Pale upper curves stand above the warm shadows.
Do not draw pores, veins or skin grain.
Where to paint: Maw and sucker interiors
Use Light Violet sparingly on the upper lip of the front mouth and the upper rims of the largest suckers.
A few pale purple accents define the wounds.
Do not make every sucker equally bright.
Where to paint: Tracks, exhausts and grilles
Touch Ironbreaker to the upper exhaust bends and a few leading track edges. Leave most of the running gear dark.
A few steel glints reveal the machinery.
Do not drybrush silver across the olive panels.
