A clean foundation that preserves the shallow panel lines
Remove the last support marks from the tail forks and gun mounts, then wash the model with warm water and a little dish soap. Rinse it well and leave the deep joints to dry overnight. Spray Grey Surface Primer in several light passes, turning the Hornet so the underside is covered without filling the vents.
Expected result
Primer covers the upper and lower hull evenly, and every panel line and vent is still open.
Points to watch
Do not start painting while water remains inside the gun mounts, and do not try to cover the grey in one wet spray coat.

1. Prepare the model

Remove the last support marks from the tail forks and gun mounts, then wash the model with warm water and a little dish soap. Rinse it well and leave the deep joints to dry overnight. Spray Grey Surface Primer in several light passes, turning the Hornet so the underside is covered without filling the vents.
Expected result
Primer covers the upper and lower hull evenly, and every panel line and vent is still open.
Points to watch

2. Apply the base colours

A deep green body with a controlled turquoise lift
Where to paint: Dark emerald nose, canopy surround, spine, inner wings and rear hull

Mix Turquoise into Abaddon Black until the colour reads as very dark green. Cover the emerald areas with two thin coats, then add a little more Turquoise and lay the brighter mixture on the upper half of each large plate. Keep the lower sides and the joints between panels in the first, darker mix.
Expected result
The hull reads as one emerald material, with a gentle rise toward the top and no cloudy patches.
Points to watch
Do not paint over the ivory insets, canopy glass or the black gaps around the weapon mounts.

Where to paint: Ivory wing blades, lower plates, canopy stripe, tail fins and gold trim

Lay Wraithbone inside the sculpted panel boundaries in two thin coats. Run a controlled line of Agrax Earthshade into each join, then restore the centre with Ushabti Bone. Finish with Screaming Skull on the forward corners and the upper edge of the tail fins.
Expected result
Ivory panels are solid and warm, their joins remain dark, and paired blades match in brightness.
Points to watch
Do not wash the whole ivory surface or let bone paint bridge the engraved gaps.

3. Build the highlights

Use clean Turquoise for a narrow line along the forward edges. Mix a pinhead of Screaming Skull into it and place short accents only at the nose tip, canopy shoulders and the two outer wing corners. Leave the rear and lower edges quieter so the craft still feels long and fast.
Expected result
The eye travels from the bright nose across matching wing accents, while the tail remains darker.
Points to watch
Do not outline every panel in pale turquoise or add equal highlights to the underside.

4. Paint the details

Paint the weapon housings Abaddon Black and the exposed barrels Leadbelcher. Place Nuln Oil around the barrel rings and at the roots, removing pools from the long flat sections. Add the same narrow Ironbreaker band to the upper side of each barrel, then touch Stormhost Silver to both muzzle tips.
Expected result
The guns match from root to muzzle, their openings stay dark and neither side is brighter than the other.
Points to watch
Do not drybrush across the black housings or leave the lower side of either barrel in primer.

Start the canopy with Abaddon Black at its rear and lower edge, then glaze Turquoise toward the front centre, leaving a smooth dark border. Add one short Screaming Skull reflection near the upper front corner. Paint each stone Mephiston Red, shade its upper rim with black and place a tiny pale point low and forward.
Expected result
The canopy has one continuous dark-to-light transition and every red stone sits cleanly inside its sculpted rim.
Points to watch
Do not invent extra lights on vents or scatter white dots across the canopy.
