Where to paint: Yellow body and orange face
Cover the warm-coloured body with thin Averland Sunset coats. Add Troll Slayer Orange to the cheeks and broad throat plate, keeping the crown and belly yellow. Follow each existing plane boundary and carry the colours around the back and beneath the body.
Yellow and orange are even and separated from the wings.
Keep warm colours off the eyes and beak.
Where to paint: Green wings and teal tail
Use Caliban Green on the upper wing planes and Stegadon Scale Green on the lower wing tips and tail. Paint both sides and the undersides, following the sculpted overlaps. Keep the boundary against the yellow body sharp.
The two wings share the same colour layout and no underside is bare.
Do not turn every wing facet into a separate coloured feather.
Where to paint: Yellow body and orange face
Layer Yriel Yellow over upward-facing yellow planes, leaving Averland Sunset below. Mix a tiny amount of White Scar into Yriel Yellow for a few small crest accents. Glaze a little Evil Sunz Scarlet into the lower orange planes and beneath the throat edge; rebuild Troll Slayer Orange above, then mix in Yriel Yellow for the lightest orange. Keep transitions inside each facet and leave the lower belly quieter.
The crest and face lead the eye; facets remain distinct.
Do not paint feather fibres or identical outlines around every facet.
Where to paint: Green wings and teal tail
Build Warpstone Glow over the upper green planes, leaving Caliban Green under overlaps. Add a little Moot Green to a few top edges. Layer Sotek Green over the outward-facing teal planes while retaining Stegadon Scale Green beneath. Use short controlled strokes within facets, keeping these highlights softer than the yellow crest.
Green and teal volumes remain readable without competing with the face.
Avoid chalky drybrushing across all sharp edges.
Where to paint: Dark beak and eyes
Paint the beak and both eyes Abaddon Black. Layer Eshin Grey on the lit beak planes, then a restrained Dawnstone accent along the upper ridge, leaving the tip dark. Keep each eye black and add one tiny White Scar catchlight on the same upper side. Confine all eye paint inside its sculpted boundary.
The beak reads as matte dark horn and the eyes as separate glossy points.
Do not add extra pupils, nostrils or a metallic beak.
Where to paint: Grey legs and feet
Basecoat the lower legs and feet Eshin Grey. Layer Dawnstone on upward-facing planes, leaving the underside and toe separations darker. Add small Administratum Grey accents to the highest toe ridges and existing claw tips. Keep the original flat contacts clean.
Both feet are finished in restrained grey with clear toes.
Do not invent scales, extra claws or ground texture.
Where to paint: Yellow body and orange face
Inspect every side under soft light and repair missed surfaces with their matching colours. Let the acrylic dry fully, then apply a thin compatible matte varnish following its instructions. If desired, restore a tiny gloss spot only inside each eye; keep the beak and body matte.
All visible surfaces are finished and both eyes read clearly.
Do not add a scenic base or coat the whole bird in gloss.
