A smooth foundation across the aircraft's broad panels and small weapon options
Wash the aircraft and weapon options separately, rinse them, and let the engine recesses dry completely. Remove any seam that crosses a wing edge or gun barrel. Lay down Grey Surface Primer with long, light passes parallel to the wings, then turn each configuration over and cover the nacelle undersides and tail. Use one brief off-axis pass for the weapon mounts instead of spraying straight into the muzzles.
Expected result
The primer is smooth across the wings and tail, continuous beneath both aircraft, and thin enough that panel lines, vents and every muzzle remain open.
Points to watch
Do not leave fingerprints on the broad wings, spray from so close that the primer turns grainy, or fill the tiny weapon and engine openings.

2. Apply the base colours

Olive airframe
Where to paint: Olive panels across the nose, cockpit, wings, fuselage, tail booms and fins
Death Guard Greencitadel · 21-37
Apply Death Guard Green in two thin coats from nose to tail. Finish one wing before moving to the other, keeping the cockpit panes, gun barrels and recessed machinery dark.
Expected result
The complete silhouette is evenly olive and all black or metallic recesses remain sharply bounded.
Points to watch
Do not paint across cockpit panes or join separate panels with thick ridges of paint.
Dark weapon assemblies
Where to paint: Chin and dorsal guns, underwing pods, vents, landing feet and recessed mechanics
Abaddon Blackcitadel · 21-25
Leadbelchercitadel · 21-28
Block the housings with Abaddon Black. Use Leadbelcher on the barrels and exposed working faces, painting each cluster from its base toward the muzzle so every barrel stays separate.
Expected result
Every weapon cluster has a dark housing and individually readable metal barrels.
Points to watch
Do not paint the entire under-wing pod silver or bridge the spaces between barrels.

3. Build the shadows

Airframe seams

Agrax Earthshadecitadel · 24-15
Touch Agrax Earthshade into each true join and pull excess toward the rear. On the long tail booms, shade only the panel breaks; leave the broad upper strip clean.
Expected result
Panels separate at viewing distance without brown stains across the flat wings.
Points to watch
Do not wash the full aircraft or outline details that are not present in the sculpt.

4. Build the highlights

Leading-edge light
Where to paint: Olive panels across the nose, cockpit, wings, fuselage, tail booms and fins
Elysian Greencitadel · 22-30
Ogryn Camocitadel · 22-31
Draw a narrow Elysian Green line along these edges, breaking it at panel changes. Add Ogryn Camo only to the nose tip, the two nearest wing corners and the top of the closest fin.
Expected result
The aircraft points forward clearly, with four or five bright accents rather than a pale outline around the whole model.
Points to watch
Do not edge every panel or draw continuous pale lines along both tail booms.
Muzzle and vent definition
Where to paint: Chin and dorsal guns, underwing pods, vents, landing feet and recessed mechanics
Nuln Oilcitadel · 24-14
Stormhost Silvercitadel · 22-75
Darken the openings with Nuln Oil. Once dry, place one Stormhost Silver touch on the upper rim of each visible muzzle and one short mark on each front landing foot.
Expected result
Openings look hollow and the nearest metal edges catch light without turning the armament chrome-bright.
Points to watch
Do not dot every rivet or place silver inside the black openings.

5. Paint the details

Faceted cockpit
Where to paint: Cockpit glass, indicator lenses, exhaust staining and wear on the leading surfaces

Eshin Greycitadel · 22-51
Paint the panes Abaddon Black. Add a short Eshin Grey reflection to the upper edge of each visible pane, keeping the lower half black and the lines parallel.
Expected result
The cockpit reads as separate dark glass facets inside a clean olive frame.
Points to watch
Do not draw a single reflection across multiple panes or widen the black onto the nose armour.

6. Add effects and weathering

Where to paint: Cockpit glass, indicator lenses, exhaust staining and wear on the leading surfaces

XV-88citadel · 21-21
Stipple a thin XV-88 haze under the nose and on the landing feet. Glaze Agrax Earthshade backward from the exhausts, then add two tiny Stormhost Silver chips to the nearest leading corners.
Expected result
Dust stays low, exhaust staining follows airflow and only the hardest leading points expose metal.
Points to watch
Do not cover the top wings in dust or paint long silver scratches at this scale.
