Ready the Farseer
Remove lint from the robe folds and check the raised fingers and staff for support marks. Wash the miniature, let the cloth recesses dry, then apply Grey Surface Primer from below and from both sides before a final light front pass.
Expected result
The pale foundation reaches beneath the robes and around the raised hand without filling the runes.
Points to watch
Do not trap primer between the fingers or soften the fine edges of the headpiece.

1. Prepare the model

Remove lint from the robe folds and check the raised fingers and staff for support marks. Wash the miniature, let the cloth recesses dry, then apply Grey Surface Primer from below and from both sides before a final light front pass.
Expected result
The pale foundation reaches beneath the robes and around the raised hand without filling the runes.

2. Apply the base colours

Build Wraithbone in smooth thin layers, turning the model to reach the inside of the raised hand. Trace Agrax Earthshade around the faceplate, under the chest ribs and between fingers, then lift any brown left on open ivory.
Expected result
The ivory is continuous across armour and hands, with precise warm shadows that preserve every finger and faceplate line.
Points to watch
Do not wash over the helmet dome or fill the narrow rune and eye recesses.
Base colour
Where to paint: Dark robe and sleeves

Turquoise 70.966vallejo · 70.966
Set the deepest fold channels with Abaddon Black. Mix a trace of Turquoise 70.966 into Corvus Black and pull it down the outward bulges of the cloth, following each fold from its origin.
Expected result
The robe remains almost black in recesses but every long fold can be followed from waist to hem.
Points to watch
Do not paint horizontal blue stripes across unrelated folds or leave the sleeve undersides flat black.

3. Build the highlights

Feather Screaming Skull along the crest and brow, then reduce the brush load and place small soft marks on the raised forearm and fingertips. Keep the lower chest in Wraithbone.
Expected result
The viewer follows the ivory light from crest to face to raised hand, while the torso keeps a warmer supporting value.
Points to watch
Do not make every finger equally bright or erase the warm separation around the faceplate.
Shape and highlight
Where to paint: Dark robe and sleeves

Mix Eshin Grey with Turquoise 70.966 and feather a narrow reflected band onto these crests. Break the band before each fold turns away, then soften its lower edge into the blue-black.
Expected result
The cool reflection connects the robe to the psychic gesture without turning the whole cloth turquoise.
Points to watch
Keep the deepest folds black and do not highlight the back-facing hem to the same strength.
Focal detail
Where to paint: Spirit stones, runes and helmet lenses

Fill each stone with Mephiston Red and add a tiny Screaming Skull reflection near its upper rim. Run Turquoise 70.966 through the rune grooves and eye slits with the very tip of the brush.
Expected result
Each red stone has a separate highlight, and every turquoise mark remains inside its sculpted recess.
Points to watch
Do not invent extra runes on plain ivory panels or let turquoise outline the red stones.

4. Paint the details

Keep the shadow side Abaddon Black, lay an Eshin Grey band along the shaft and blade, then place a thinner Administratum Grey band inside it. Finish with Stormhost Silver at the blade tip and collar corners.
Expected result
The eye can follow one continuous reflective weapon from tip to grip, with dark metal still visible beside each light band.
Points to watch
Do not brighten the whole shaft to silver or leave the lower section behind the robe unfinished.
