Warm ivory goat

Prepare the goat
Inspect the horn tips and hanging locks, remove support marks and dust, and wash off residue if the print material requires it. Let the goat dry completely, then apply a thin even coat of Vallejo Grey Surface Primer without filling the hair grooves.
Expected result
The primer is dry and the fine locks remain separate.
Points to watch
Do not bend the ears while cleaning underneath them.

2. Apply the base colours

Brush thin Ushabti Bone along the sculpted locks, turning the goat to reach the belly and inner legs. Stop at the smooth nose, hooves and horns.
Expected result
Ivory covers the hair without grey gaps.
Points to watch
Do not bridge the gaps between beard strands with paint.
Colour the horns

Cover both horns with thin Baneblade Brown, pulling each stroke from the root towards the tip without crossing onto the forelock.
Expected result
The horn colour reaches the roots and tips evenly.

Keep the sculpted rings open.
Define dark details

Paint Dryad Bark over the hoof shells and nose, then touch the brush tip to each eye. Follow the hoof edge where the long hair ends.
Expected result
The feet and nose read as separate dark shapes, with two neat eyes.
Points to watch
Do not enlarge the eye sockets into black circles.

3. Build the shadows

Separate the locks
Where to paint: Long coat
Agrax Earthshadecitadel · 24-15
Guide a small amount of Agrax Earthshade into the deep hair channels with the brush tip. Wick away any pool on the broad forehead before it dries.
Expected result
Brown shadows sit inside the channels while lock tops stay ivory.
Points to watch
Avoid soaking the face in a single dark wash.

4. Build the highlights

Light the raised hair
Where to paint: Long coat
Screaming Skullcitadel · 22-33
Draw short strokes of Screaming Skull along the raised locks, using the side of a damp brush. Keep the strokes narrow near the eyes and broader on the shoulder curls.
Expected result
The head and shoulders are brighter than the lower flanks.
Points to watch
Do not drybrush every strand equally bright.
