Ready the light tank
Scrub printing dust from the shallow hull recesses and straighten any removable fuzz around the tracks before washing. Let the tank dry, then apply Black Surface Primer in two quick circuits around the model instead of one heavy frontal coat.
Expected result
The primer is consistent around the turret ring and track guards, with every shallow panel line still visible.
Points to watch
Do not obscure the small tank's panel breaks or leave bare resin behind the turret.

1. Prepare the model

Ready the light tank

Expected result

2. Apply the base colours

Where to paint: Olive hull and rounded turret
Death Guard Greencitadel · 21-37
Cover the broad sides and sloping front with Death Guard Green before moving to the rounded turret. Paint the side boxes and green support arms for the blade as separate shapes.
Expected result
Hull and turret have a continuous olive foundation, while the metal blade and twin gun remain clean.
Points to watch
Keep green off the tracks, twin barrels and cutting edge of the dozer blade.
Black foundation for tracks and hidden mechanics
Where to paint: Tracks, twin cannon and dozer blade
Abaddon Blackcitadel · 21-25
Fill the visible front track links with Abaddon Black, then continue around the remaining run. Darken the cavities behind the blade and between its green support arms.
Expected result
The running gear has a solid black base, and no grey primer shows through the mechanism behind the blade.
Points to watch
Keep black off the metal blade teeth and the outer rims of the drive wheels.
Working steel on gun and blade
Where to paint: Tracks, twin cannon and dozer blade
Leadbelchercitadel · 21-28
Run Leadbelcher along both barrels from turret to muzzle. Paint the blade's cutting strip, each lower tooth and the small pivots in its mounting separately.
Expected result
The twin weapon and working edge of the blade read as cold metal against the olive hull.
Points to watch
Do not bridge the two barrels with silver or turn the full blade face into bare metal.

3. Build the shadows

Definition between the stepped armour parts
Where to paint: Olive hull and rounded turret
Agrax Earthshadecitadel · 24-15
Feed Agrax Earthshade into the straight hull seams and beneath the turret's lower rim. On the blade supports, shade only the hinges and the sockets where the arms enter the front armour.
Expected result
The layered front reads clearly, and a narrow warm shadow separates the turret from the hull.
Points to watch
Do not circle every round bolt with brown or drag wash across the flat side panels.
Separation in the twin gun and blade mechanism
Where to paint: Tracks, twin cannon and dozer blade
Nuln Oilcitadel · 24-14
Darken both bores and the narrow gap between them with Nuln Oil. Along the blade, run the shade at the root of the cutting strip and around each mounting pivot.
Expected result
The weapon reads as two distinct tubes, and every blade tooth gains depth at its base.
Points to watch
Do not flood the inner blade face with Nuln Oil or leave a run across the turret.
Ground dirt on the working surfaces
Where to paint: Dozer edge, lower hull, tracks and muzzles
Agrax Earthshadecitadel · 24-15
Thin Agrax Earthshade and build road dirt along the lower sides and between track links. Pull streaks down the blade face, strengthening them near the teeth and corners.
Expected result
Grime is heaviest on the blade and running gear, while the tall turret stays visibly cleaner.
Points to watch
Do not scatter identical brown spots over the turret or darken the top of the blade with one solid band.

4. Build the highlights

Shape the turret and sloping front
Where to paint: Olive hull and rounded turret
Elysian Greencitadel · 22-30
Blend Elysian Green in a broad arc across the turret crown and a soft patch over the sloping front. Use narrower, straight highlights on the box lids and blade arms.
Expected result
The turret reads as rounded, the front as sloped and the side boxes as crisp rectangular forms.
Points to watch
Do not brighten the lower half of the turret or repeat identical bands on every side box.
Sharp glints on gun and cutting edge
Where to paint: Tracks, twin cannon and dozer blade
Stormhost Silvercitadel · 22-75
Give each muzzle one short Stormhost Silver mark. Break the highlight along the cutting strip and pick out only the most exposed teeth.
Expected result
Two crisp glints define the gun, and the blade looks worn along its working edge.
Points to watch
Do not polish the whole blade or merge the two muzzle highlights into one broad stripe.
Fresh chips on the Siegfried's leading edges
Where to paint: Dozer edge, lower hull, tracks and muzzles
Stormhost Silvercitadel · 22-75
Tap Stormhost Silver sparingly onto the hull's most exposed corners. On the blade, add bright metal to only three or four teeth and two short sections of the cutting edge.
Expected result
Fresh metal appears where the Siegfried strikes obstacles, while the remaining wear stays restrained.
Points to watch
Do not scatter silver across the rounded turret or brighten the recesses between the teeth.

5. Paint the details

Three restrained khaki accents
Where to paint: Raised turret markings and panel trim
Zandri Dustcitadel · 21-16
Fill the central turret hatch with Zandri Dust and choose one small raised plate on either side. Keep their edges straight and leave the remaining panels olive.
Expected result
The three accents clarify the turret and hull sides without inventing a marking system.
Points to watch
Do not turn every raised block khaki or add numbers to blank armour.
