Prepare the compact tank while keeping the four mortar mouths perfectly open.
Inspect each mortar bore and the narrow space beneath the turret for dust. Wash the model in warm water with a drop of dish soap, rinse it and let the deep openings dry fully. Apply Black Surface Primer in short passes from several angles, then check all four bores with a light before adding any colour.
Expected result
The primer is matte, the turret remains visually separate from the hull and all four bores are clean black circles.
Points to watch
Do not aim the spray into a mortar tube or let primer bridge the gap beneath the turret.

1. Prepare the model

Inspect each mortar bore and the narrow space beneath the turret for dust. Wash the model in warm water with a drop of dish soap, rinse it and let the deep openings dry fully. Apply Black Surface Primer in short passes from several angles, then check all four bores with a light before adding any colour.

2. Apply the base colours

Make the hull and turret read as the same Cadian olive vehicle.
Where to paint: Olive glacis, sides, deck, turret and mortar housings

Apply Olive Green 69.028 in two thin coats, working around rather than across the mortar openings. Mix in Ogryn Camo and place the lighter olive on the turret roof, upper glacis and the upper strip of each side plate. Leave the lower hull in Olive Green.
Expected result
The turret and hull share one olive colour, with a brighter top and a darker band beside the tracks.
Points to watch
Do not close the mortar bores with green paint or cover the black line beneath the turret.

3. Build the shadows

Separate the boxy armour shapes without making the tank look striped.

Use Nuln Oil only inside the turret ring, hatch seam and joins around the mortar blocks. Clean any tide marks immediately. Restore Ogryn Camo along the upper side of those joins, then add Khaki 72.061 to the front lip of the turret and the two highest corners of the glacis.
Expected result
The hatch, turret and mortar blocks are distinct, while the upper highlights remain sparse.
Points to watch
Do not outline the complete side silhouette or shade every raised square on the hull.

4. Paint the details

Keep all four mortar tubes equally readable and give the tracks a darker weight.

Repaint the four bores Abaddon Black. Cover the outside of the tubes, track links and small fittings with Leadbelcher, then shade them with Nuln Oil. Add Ironbreaker to the upper arc of each muzzle and to the outer track teeth; compare the four tubes after every highlight so none becomes brighter than the others.
Expected result
The bores are four matching black circles, the tube rims catch the same light and the tracks remain darker than the hull.
Points to watch
Do not fill the bores with metallic paint or drybrush silver across the olive turret blocks.

5. Add effects and weathering

Set the low tank into the ground without losing the shape of the track links.

Stipple thinned Khaki 70.988 onto the bottom third of the track links and the hull lip behind them. Add a little Agrax Earthshade at the rear corners where damp dirt gathers. Place two tiny Chipping Brown 69.035 marks on the lowest front plate; stop before the dust reaches the turret.
Expected result
Dust remains below the side armour, track links stay visible and the upper hull is clean.
Points to watch
Do not coat the mortar battery with earth colours or turn the track run into one solid brown band.
