Black cloth and armour catch light differently around Yarrick's weathered face. Old bone, warm officer's gold, cold service metal and deep command red support a single controlled eye glow above ash and rubble.

Prepare Commissar Yarrick
Inspect the klaw teeth, coat tails and thin hat details, remove residue, then wash and fully dry the miniature. Apply Black Surface Primer behind the raised klaw and beneath the coat before turning Yarrick for a thin, even coat across the front.
Expected result
The black primer is continuous beneath the coat and around both weapons, while the face, eye housing and klaw teeth stay sharply defined.
Points to watch
Do not fill the Bale Eye socket, soften the cap badge or bridge the gaps between the klaw teeth.

Keep the deepest folds Abaddon Black. Feather Eshin Grey along the coat creases and lower hem, but place it as a tighter line on the armour and machine corners. Use Administratum Grey only on the cap brim, lapel tips and a few hard edges facing the light.
Expected result
The coat reads as folded cloth, the chest as hard armour and the hat frames the face without any of them becoming grey.
Points to watch
Do not edge-highlight every coat fold or turn the flat breastplate into a chalky grey panel.

Shade Zandri Dust bone with Agrax and lift the raised skulls and feathers with Ushabti Bone. Work officer's trim from Retributor Armour to restrained Liberator Gold. Paint the storm bolter barrels, klaw teeth and joints Leadbelcher, deepen their seams with Nuln Oil and use Ironbreaker on muzzle rims and cutting edges only.
Expected result
Bone stays matte and aged, gold remains warm, steel stays cool, and every weapon opening is visibly dark.
Points to watch
Do not paint the storm bolter casing gold or fill the twin muzzle bores with silver.

Keep Dark Fleshtone in the eye sockets, temple furrows and beneath the cheekbones. Layer Cadian Fleshtone across the nose and cheeks, then use Kislev Flesh sparingly on the nose ridge, upper lip and cheek creases.
Expected result
The face remains lined and stern, the mouth is separated cleanly and the flesh does not compete with the red bionic lens.

Do not smooth away the sculpted age lines or place bright flesh paint inside the bionic eye socket.

Use Dark Red in the klaw joints, sash folds and coat lining, layer Mephiston Red over the exposed planes, then place Evil Sunz Scarlet on the claw tips, sash crest and hat band. For the Bale Eye, keep a dark red rim, add a smaller Scarlet centre and one sharp White Grey reflection.
Expected result
The klaw feels heavy rather than fluorescent, the cloth remains softer, and the Bale Eye is the smallest but brightest red point.
Points to watch
Do not spread an airbrushed red halo across the face or paint the klaw's steel teeth red.

4. Finish the model

Cover the ground with Neutral Grey, place Nuln Oil in the deepest cracks and under the coat hem, then drybrush Dawnstone across the rubble. Mark a few sharp stones with Administratum Grey and finish the complete rim in smooth Abaddon Black.
Expected result
The figure stands level on a cool ash battlefield base, with clear stone texture and a neat black rim.
Points to watch
Do not bury the stone texture under thick paint or drybrush grey across the black rim.
